On 10 October 2018, Rosita Samsudin and Serene Chen from the Urban-Rural Systems group at Future Cities Lab (FCL) were invited to introduce UR-Scape, a new cutting-edge mapping tool. This talk is the first of our Mapping the Urban Studies series, organized by the Yale-NUS Urban Studies Department. A live demonstration of the software was also conducted for the students.
UR-Scape is a data-driven, open-source planning tool developed by FCL as a platform to integrate various forms of data from the local level, with the intentions of bringing people of various background together to visualize, analyse and understand data. It is currently being employed in municipal governments across Indonesia, where it has even been incorporated into Bandung’s budget planning process, and is also receiving great support from the Asian Development Bank.
